Subject:Re: Hammarbäck family in Sweden From:Ronnie JohanssonDate:Sun, 22 Mar 2009 11:34:32 +0000 (GMT) To:keith@hammerbeck.org I can tell you about the Hammarbäck family, and how it look like now. The side of Hammarbäck Im writing about are still residing were the Hammarbäck family lived and worked. I´m one of two siblings To Britt-Marie Hammarbäck (Born 1959) and she is daughter to Karl Sten Ove Hammarbäck (72 years old) and married to Anna Märtha Hammarbäck who beside Britt-Marie even have a son named Mikael Hammarbäck who lives alone and have no children. My grandfather Karl Sten Ove have been working as a engineer and travelled around the world and even lived and worked around Minnesota and in other states in America. Im 24 years old and have a son that is three years old in April.. Im educated as an art- director bur works within psychiatry, because it is very difficult to get a job in art-directing here in Sweden. The family here in Sweden has always worked in the industries and with technique, and in the beginning as smith, but that develop to a workshop and engineer. So all of us here in the Hammarbäck family like building things. The picture of a ford Im sending was droved by Mas Harry Larsson, Hedemora in Swedens winter grand prix in February 1932 in Rämen. The body of the car was building in Gubbo Near schisshyttan in Smedjebacken. The fact is that this cars was builds were me and my family lives to day, were a car shop laid may years ago named Hammarbäcks car shop. They builded bodies to racing cars, like Bennström´s Ford v8 1933 and C.G. and also Johanssons A-Ford. Why I chose to tell you this is because Karl Vilhelm Hammarbäck and Emil Hammarbäck own this factory. They also built buses and cycles there, but now a days there family houses there. I will later on send pictures of more cars, houses and factorys that the Hammarbäck family had here in Sweden. I will also send pictures of us who lives here now. I have spoken to my grandfather and he will help me with the information about the Hammarbäck family. He is really interested in genealogy and like that I have an interest to I too. I will send you more informations when I find out some more. Best regards Ronnie Johansson

In late 1871 or the spring/summer of 1872 the family came to the United States. The trip normally took about 6 weeks. More than likely their port of entry would have been New York. They would probably have gone directly to Illinois as the other Trossen families had earlier. Perhaps the Collmann's, John Trossen's in-laws from his first marriage, were willing and able to shelter this family and help them get settled in their new home.
